Real people who like Rick Santorum
I didn’t think they existed, but I was talking with a republican friend of mine last night (one of the few I have) who absolutely adores this batshit man. Despite being pro-gay marriage and pro-choice, she likes Rick Santorum because of his views on the economy and other more political, less social issues.
She also told me she firmly believes in Reagonomics.
Now, this friend of mine is intelligent, well-educated, and despite her protests to the contrary, very wealthy. Her complaints that her parents were taxed in the full amount of her mother’s income (twice that of my parents’ income combined) and that’s just not fair! were incredibly frustrating to listen to. If your family makes so much money that you are paying taxes in a dollar amount that is greater than double another family’s entire income, you are not struggling. If those four rental properties that your family owns precludes your parents from filing taxes separately, then maybe you need to check your privilege and understand that you are not financially suffering.
And if you are, then maybe you should try living within your means like the rest of us.

Did you ask her how she feels about throwing her social values under the bus? I’ve heard the whole “it’s for economic reasons before” by social liberals but when you point out who they’re sacrificing in return they don’t know what to do.
