Truck troubles
After coming home from Flagstaff, I started noticing that, upon downshifting, my transmission likes to SQUEAL. Not a normal whining of the gears, here, but an actual full out squealing sound.
Considering I have a 6 month old Toyota Tacoma with less than 5k miles on it, this is quite troubling.
But I have a warranty, so it’s all good, right?
Wrong.
The dumbasses at Power Toyota are trying to tell me this is normal. Here’s the thing. I’m not a mechanical genius by any means, and I understand that some noise from a 5 speed is normal. However, loud squealing sound that the rest of the universe agrees is troubling is abnormal.
I took my truck to my transmission guy who agrees - the transmission is bad. This guy, at Quality Transmission in Tempe, is reliable and honest, and is not trying to sell me his workmanship. Instead, he’s actually trying to help me with the dealership in order to use my warranty. No charge for the diagnostic.
I can’t help but wonder if I’m getting jacked around at the dealership because I’m a woman and they expect me to just take them at their word that a transmission is supposed to make hellacious noises.
We will find out, though, because I plan on harassing Toyota until the damn thing gets fixed. This is irritating.
In other news, my right headphone also just went out so I’m listening to my music on my phone in mono, not stereo. #Firstworldproblems
